The story

From the jobsite up.

Jennifer Todd, MLS, M. ASCE, is the founder of Apprentice Connector, a workforce technology platform built to simplify access to apprenticeship opportunities and strengthen the future construction workforce.

After nearly 20 years in the construction industry, Jennifer saw firsthand the growing disconnect between employers struggling to find skilled labor and individuals trying to access careers in the trades. Workforce boards, educators, contractors, and job seekers were all asking the same question: Where do we find apprenticeship programs?

Apprentice Connector was created to solve that problem by connecting people to apprenticeship programs, workforce resources, and skilled trades career pathways through a centralized, modern platform.

Jennifer is the founder and former President of LMS General Contractors, a woman-owned demolition and environmental services firm, where she built a nationally recognized brand in the construction industry. She made history as the youngest Black woman to hold California’s CSLB General Engineering (A) license and became the first Black business owner featured on the cover of Construction Business Owner magazine. She is also the only individual in Engineering News-Record history to receive both Top 25 Newsmaker and Top 20 Under 40 honors in the same year.

Graduate of ASU Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and is also the creator and producer of Breaking Barriers: Women at Work, a docuseries highlighting women leaders reshaping the construction industry through resilience, leadership, and cultural transformation.

Her work sits at the intersection of workforce innovation, infrastructure, and social impact — helping create stronger workforce pipelines for the next generation of construction professionals.
